Do You Hear What I Hear?

Birds singing, maybe? Or the buzz of a bee….The wind rustling through leaves, or the crunching of our own footsteps as we walk over pebbles, twigs or fallen leaves…..or the sound of the approaching rain…..

Nature is full of whispers and rhythm, all connected, like a call and answer that resonates within, inviting us to notice and answer, too. Let’s pause, look and listen, shall we?

This summer, we seek to enhance our connection to the natural world through music, movement, and exploration. The “click” or “thud” of two twigs hitting together, the rustling of leaves as they move, blown by the breeze, a gecko scurrying away amongst fallen leaves and branches, the fluttering of a bee’s wings, as it seeks a flower – the melody of nature is unfolding all around us. We will let it fill our ears, our senses and our hearts with joy and see whether we can reproduce it, create our own beat, our own rhythm, taking example from our environment.

GGS offers a summer program for children in Phnom Penh during the summer break. This is open to students, of an appropriate age, from any school. Priority is given to Gecko Garden students and children who are on the waiting list. The program follows our usual curriculum schedule to provide a sense of familiarity and continuity for currently enrolled children at GGS who comprise the majority of the student number. This also helps for the smooth transition of families who are joining the new school year. Preschool Camp is for children 18 months to 4 years while the Kindergarten Camp if for children 4.5 to 6.5 years. The program runs for 4 weeks with weekly enrolment options. The daily school hours offered are:

  • half-day program (8:00 am - 12:00 pm)

  • full-day program (8:00 am - 2:30 pm)

  • full-day + twilight program (8:00 am - 5:00 pm)

Early bird arrival is at 7:30am with no additional cost.

Snack & Lunch fees are not included. Our healthy and nutritious snack is provided by Healthy Kids Kitchen. Please complete the Healthy Kids Registration Form and send together with the Summer School Registration form to: administration@geckogardenschool.org.
