Snack & Lunch

Community meals play an important role and at our school all children eat the same healthy food to encourage healthy choices. The school provides snack and children are encouraged to bring a fruit to share in class or a vegetable during soup-making days. No artificial sweeteners and strong spices are used when preparing the children’s food. Snack is provided in the morning and in the afternoon during the twilight program.

Snack fees are billed monthly and paid in advance. If a child is absent for a full week (5 consecutive days) due to illness, the following month's fee will be prorated. For planned absences (such as holidays), we ask families to inform the school at least two days in advance to minimize food waste.

Lunch is provided by Healthy Kids Kitchen that has been our catering partner since 2019. Founded by a former teacher from GGS, Healthy Kids Kitchen is a catering company that believes in creating dishes that are healthy, diverse, appealing to children, and affordable to parents. Parents are asked to register directly with Healthy Kids Kitchen as part of the registration process with the school.

Soup Day!

Our shared snack program provides a predictable rhythm that fosters comfort and security for our students. The weekly snack schedule is so familiar that children frequently identify days of the week by the menu—asking if it is "soup day" rather than Tuesday. Soup day is a hands-on community tradition. Every week, children eagerly contribute fresh vegetables or herbs from home, filling the school with the cozy, savory scent of simmering onions, garlic, and fresh herbs. From scrubbing and chopping the produce to cooking, serving, and washing up, the children are fully involved in the entire process. This shared ritual isn't just about eating; it offers meaningful work that develops fine motor skills, teaches them where their food comes from, and instills a deep appreciation for shared meals and gathering together.
